Privacy
We collect as little as possible, ask before we use analytics, and never sell your data.

Who we are
Jersey Now is an independent island utility operated by Granite Digital, a business based in Jersey (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for any personal data collected through this site. For any privacy question or request, email info@granitedigital.je.
The law we follow
This policy is written to comply with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018. Where our cookies and analytics involve visitors from the United Kingdom or the European Union, we also have regard to the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. For cookies and consent we follow the guidance of the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC).
What we collect and why
- Analytics (with your consent): we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymous usage, such as which pages and modules people find useful. Until you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics runs in a consent-denied mode that sets no analytics cookies. If you accept, it sets a first-party cookie so we can measure repeat visits. We do not use it for advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not store your IP address (Google processes it briefly to estimate approximate location, then discards it). Our legal basis is your consent.
- Newsletter (not yet active): if and when sign-ups open, we will collect your email address only when you choose to subscribe, on the basis of your consent, and you will be able to unsubscribe at any time.
- Incident reports (not yet active): if and when reporting opens, we will collect the details you submit. Any IP address used to prevent abuse is hashed and cannot be used to identify you. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the service reliable and free of abuse.
Cookies
The site works without any non-essential cookies. The only optional cookies are the Google Analytics cookies described above, and they stay off until you accept them. We also keep a small record of your cookie choice in your browser's local storage so that we do not ask you again. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
Who we share it with
We keep data to a minimum and we never sell it. The service providers who process data on our behalf are Google (Google Analytics, and Google Cloud and Firebase for hosting). These providers may process data outside Jersey, including in the United States, under appropriate safeguards. We do not share your personal data with anyone else, except where we are required to by law.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is retained for no longer than 14 months. Newsletter and incident-report data, once those features are live, is kept only for as long as needed for the purpose described above, or until you ask us to delete it.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@granitedigital.je and we will respond within the period set by the Law.
How to complain
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC), the island's data protection authority, at jerseyoic.org.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. See also our terms of use.
